With this guide, AMG will help you to make 2018 your year as an artist. By following this plan, we hope that we can get your career on the right track and to begin to build a steady income off your music.
Fan Development: This will get a lot more complex as we move further, but to start, every day, message one person who may or may not listen to your music. You can start with people you know listen to your music and just thank them for listening and being a fan. By doing this it shows you care about your fans and want to interact with them. In turn, each fan will feel more connected to you and be more likely to be a diehard fan to support your merch drops, song drops, albums etc.
All it takes it live off your music is 1,000 fans, that’s it. 1,000 fans can allow you to live off music. It’s simple, yes 1,000 fans are in fact a lot. It is nothing to blink at, but it is extremely doable. There are over 124 million people that listen to music and support artists. All we need is 1,000. With 1,000 fans who support you, you can make 40K a year or more. The average music fan spends anywhere from 50 to 64 dollars a year on music related goods including albums, merch and shows. That means, if you can get your
Let’s break this down, with 1,000 fans all you need each fan to buy is One album or two eps: $10 Attend one show: $15 One merch item: $15 That’s already $40...which is 40K a year with your 1,000 fans.
This is obtainable. This is realistic, and this is something we can make happen in 2019.
Budgeting: The plan for 2019 should be to make quality music that will attract new audiences and help to build your fanbase and to motivate your music career. The biggest way we can do both objectives is to create a budget that can not only help us save money, but can also help us get the best value for our money. With this budget, we can cut expenses, maximize value and profit. There are three basic expenses an artist has (Obviously there are more such as merch, shows, traveling etc.):
My plan for 2018 is to utilize the SC scene and to be able to work with GOOD QUALITY producers and rappers who will work for free. There are extremely talented underground artists who would love and kill to work with you. We can find these guys (and girls) and use them to create amazing music, and it will be a fraction of the cost of working with others who charge. This way we can put our money to better uses such as putting on shows, buying merch, getting that good feature or beat.
Each month, the artist needs to lay their budget of how much they can/are willing to spend, and we can go through and make the most of it to maximize value and quality.
Shows: I want to get to a point where every two months or, so we are doing a custom show for the artist. It is a great way to get to build your press kit, experience doing shows, make money, network with other artists, build connections with music venues and gain new fans. Need:
4 to 5 opening artists (willing to sell tickets)
A cheaper venue (300 to 400 dollars)
Merch: If the artist’s fan base is developed, merchandise is a perfect way to take advantage and make extra money. We can get affordable merch and sell it at a good price that will help us not only money some extra cash, but also build a tighter bond with our fans, and receive more promotion and awareness through merch. We can create:
Social Media: Be active!! This is huge for growing as an artist. Not only do you need to tweet your music out to your social media audiences, but you need to interact with your audiences. Lil Pump is killing the IG game right now. He has one of the fastest growing accounts in the music industry right now and it is helping to dominate the industry right now. Lil Pump posts on his ig once every two days, that should be our goal as well. By having consistent posts on IG, we can build your fan base and get your music out to new people. This will us to build the artists image as well. Need steady pictures from photo shoots, can be anything, not just you are doing music related images. Can be you flexing, at the bar, with girls or any music related scenes. Just need steady images to be posted on social media. The more I have of you, the more I can post.
Post daily on twitter (more than just music)
Post every two days on IG if possible.
