Who's Marc Bravo?
At 15, 8 years ago (2011), I began making music in Marcus J. Washington’s basement. That’s where I made my first set of songs, and personally they were horrible, but everyone saw potential in me. After creating more music, it led me to catching the eye of Atlantic Record’s own “Zachary” (known then as Izzy Vegetable$). We began creating music together and people started to migrate towards it; so much so that we decided to become a duo/rap group known as “The Scumbag Boyz”. I was already well known around the area but joining The Scumbag Boyz evaluated us to the point where we easily had over 2,000 fans spread throughout 20 different countries around the world. Eventually we had enough shows for us to go on our first tour. We did this with no management. Then in 2015, the owner of the record label “Out Here Ballin” records (located in Australia) reached out to us and told us he loved the movement we had going on. That next week he offered us a record deal and sent us money to record our first album with his label. This is where we dropped our first album under his name, we sent him back our contracts to review and sign, then never heard from him again. This was my first lesson on our cutthroat the industry is. I didn’t let this hold me back though, I took my energy and used it to fuel my first big mixtape “The Black Tape”. My grandma believed in me so much, she invested 3,500 into this project which the well-known DJ Grady and I used to promote. This tape alone received over 40,000 plays and I was getting hit up by fans all over the world. Although this was a success for me, my group was beginning to decline. Our debut album dropped in summer of 2016, which did great in numbers. But overtime, Zachary had made so many enemies in the area and many people began to sabotage our group. I won’t go too much into detail about that, but this created setbacks not only outside our group but internally as well. This is when we began to decline. The group went for 12 of us, to 5. Then 9 of our shows got canceled in a row. This was very discouraging, but I continued to use take this energy and grind even harder. As I listened to all the music I released, I felt I could be so much better. I locked myself in my college dorm every night and recorded over 100 songs in 2017, working on all my different styles. That year I released no music and focused on modeling, so I only released photo albums. In 2018, I had enough material to then drop 4 mixtapes throughout the year which started to build an at home fanbase for me. Early 2019, I decided it was time to get even more serious. I began working on what’s known now as my debut album, “BRAVOTAPE” which was my first collaborative project within house producers Tape hook (Russia) and Parker Jazz (LA). This was by far my most successful projects; and because I put my face on the album cover, I began getting recognized out in public. By the end of the first month (March), my whole college knew who I was. It got the point where were coming up to me every day telling me the love my music, it was surreal. I graduated college shortly after in May and took a small break to get my financial situation in order but kept my social media interaction up. In August, I began recording again and preparing to drop a new album in October. I now have 2 full albums complete. I have the vision and I now have the team to get myself over the hump to get where I want to be in the industry. And while everyone is trying to get signed, I’m trying to fly.
